Folded Parts

We design CNC folded sheet metal parts. First, we create your part as a 3D model. Then, we convert it into a 3D sheet metal format which is subsequently unfolded to a 2D flat sheet part using conventional sheet metal rules. The 2D flat pattern is provided in DXF and PDF formats, containing all the necessary information for CNC laser cutting and folding. At our facility we use a Keetona hydro form, capable of folding and bending light to heavy gauge sheet materials with a length of up to 1.5m. This folder accommodates both small and larger radius bends.

Laser Cutting

The 2D drawing we produce from the flat sheet model is then sent to our dedicated precision laser cutter. We check the surfaces for scratches before cutting. Our laser cutter has a roller bed which minimises damage through the cutting process.

Welding

We use silicon bronze TIG welding for our chassis, wishbones and other major components to minimise heat related cracking and failure. This is a tried and tested technique still used on current sports chassis makers such as Ariel. Bench testing and evidence from racing shows excellent resistance to shock and fatigue. We also TIG a variety of parts in stainless steel and aluminium such as exhausts, catch tanks, header tanks, fuel tanks, firewalls, and pedal boxes.

Finishing

We supply many of our steel parts with a zinc plated or black powder coat finish as standard. We have established working relationships with our finishers and organise weekly shipments to and from our electroplaters.

Tube work

We can manufacture smooth, accurately bent radii where needed in roll hoops, chassis or wishbone arms. We have die sizes/tooling to accommodate all of our tube stock or special sizes upon request. Our fabricators achieve a close tolerance fit between all our tubes before welding. With our tube notching set up, we can cut angled and mirrored scallops to get the perfect fit. The compound angles and rotations we can achieve are set up to be repeatable for volume work as well as one offs.
