In the workshop right now we're converting an 1800 In the workshop right now we're converting an 1800S to 289 V8, 140bhp to 400+bhp. We're fitting heavy duty uprights and bearings and doing some bodywork modifications to accommodate the free-flowing equal length race manifold of our own design. We even made a jig representing the chassis and bodywork to ensure proper clearances for the exhaust header.

Here’s the latest part in development for the Gr Here’s the latest part in development for the Grantura, a diff output shaft with integrated flanges. Lighter, stronger and with fewer parts, these will be fitted to the new Grantura MkIII race car we’re currently building and once tested will be fitted to all our new race and road cars.

Today in the workshop we’re making a steering ra Today in the workshop we’re making a steering rack for a Grantura MkIII race car, modifying the rack and casing from a Spitfire and resizing the steering arms so they reach the ball joint. TVR would have fitted a standard Spitfire or Herald rack on their Grantura and Griffith road cars but for racing we need to shorten the rack and casing because otherwise we’d suffer bump steer. This is part of the Grantura MkIII race car kit we’re putting together for a customer to build up, including pretty much everything bar the engine and gearbox. We're constantly redesigning, developing and manuf We're constantly redesigning, developing and manufacturing 1960s TVR parts, using CAD and stronger, lighter materials. With brand-new chassis, bodies, running gear, fuel systems, removable dashboards and so much more - even down to brackets and fittings - already in manufacture, we're working on the purely functional bits that don't just make a car go faster on a track. Here's some work in progress: pedal boxes (with Wilwood master cylinders, an upgrade on Girling), door hinges and aluminium door frames.

Having supplied two Grantura MkIII chassis and pac Having supplied two Grantura MkIII chassis and packages including running gear, roll cages for racing in the Equipe GTS series in the UK, and supplied the chassis and a big parts package for a Grantura MkIII racing in the US, we’ve started on an exciting new project to build two Ford 289-powered Griffiths from scratch. One chassis is already welded and being fitted up before being dismantled and the components powder coated in the customer’s choice of colour and the second chassis is being pieced together on the jig. We’ve been busy at Retroracecar these last few w We’ve been busy at Retroracecar these last few weeks starting some interesting new projects (more to come soon) but also repairing the Grantura MkIII race car. Our race weekend at Brands Hatch in August was cut short when I couldn’t avoid a Healey spinning in front of me. Back at the pits we found enough damage to not only end the weekend for us but also the rest of the season, missing Snetterton the following weekend and Silverstone in October. The bonnet is toast, and while the body can be repaired it will have to be stripped and separated from the chassis. Fortunately we modified the factory body moulds we own to allow the body to be bolted to the chassis and not bonded to it, like the original was, so while it will take some time to strip out the shell, it’s a lot easier. The front nearside of the chassis was damaged but we’ve already straightened it and welded back new mounts. We’re very proud of the strength of the chassis and while the wishbone & suspension pick up brackets were bent out of shape, none of the welding came undone and we’ll be modifying the lower wishbone to reinforce the trunnion bracket. Not only are we testing the chassis and parts we make by racing them but we’re seeing the extra strength we built in working in real life crash testing and making parts even stronger if we find weaknesses. #equipeclassicracing #tvr #tvrcars #classiccars #tvrgrantura #tvrgranturamk3 #goodwood #historicracing #mastershistoricracing #motorsport #vintageracing #classicdriver
